THE SMILE GENERATION® AND KABOOM! TO PUT KIDS FIRST BY INCREASING OPPORTUNITIES TO PLAY IN FORT WORTH

Volunteers from The Smile Generation®, Trinity Basin Preparatory and volunteers in the Fort Worth community will join KaBOOM! on Saturday, October 19 to transform an empty site into a kid-designed, state-of-the-art playground in just six hours at Trinity Basin Preparatory’s Pafford Charter School. The new playground will help make play the easy choice for kids and families in Fort Worth, Texas. Ann Zadeh, District 9 Fort Worth council member, will also be in attendance at this must-see build event.

Play is essential to physical, creative, cognitive, social, and emotional development. Currently, Trinity Basin Preparatory-Pafford is located about 4 miles directly south of downtown Fort Worth. It is located in a low-income neighborhood that hasn't experienced much in the way of redevelopment over the years. There are several paved parking lots that the students use to kick around a soccer ball at recess, but the location desperately needs a creative outdoor learning and play space. Through this playground project, Trinity Basin Preparatory will work with The Smile Generation and KaBOOM! to make a difference in their community and address the most urgent needs of kids. Recently, children from the surrounding community came together to draw their dream playground. The playground that will be built is based off their drawings and will provide thousands of kids in Fort Worth with a great, safe place to play over its lifetime. This playground is part of a broader effort led by The Smile Generation and KaBOOM! to ensure communities have great PLAYces for kids and families. Through this partnership, KaBOOM! and The Smile Generation are creating an oasis where kids feel valued and loved, and where their potential is supported, nurtured and celebrated. The Smile Generation’s culture of service is at the heart of the organization, and the Trinity Basin-Pafford KaBOOM! event will be The Smile Generation’s 15th playground build.
