Ledbetter Campus to Host Second Major Food Distribution Event to Families in Need

Dallas Youth Sports (DYS) through a partnership with Hunger Busters distributed 2,000 boxes of meals at TBP’s Ledbetter Campus on Mar. 30. Each box contained perishable and non-perishable food items large enough to feed a family of 4-5.

“In everyday life, even before COVID-19, people in our community need help to feed their kids,” DYS Director J.R. Huerta said. “Dallas Youth Sports is a part of this community, and we are invested in the health and well-being of our athletes. Our partners at Trinity Basin Preparatory worked to feed kids all summer long even if they were not in school because a good meal creates good students. Thus, joining Hunger Busters in this effort is a natural partnership for these three nonprofits.”

This is the second such food distribution organized in coordination between TBP, DYS, and Hunger Busters. On Friday, February 26, the Hunger Busters team, in partnership with DYS volunteers, provided 1,000 meals of perishable and non-perishable food.

Hunger Busters has been a partner with DYS for the past three years and, due to recent federal grant funding, is now working to set up bi-weekly or monthly food distribution events.
