    Ashlee Thrash from Mesquite Campus Awarded as TBP’s District Teacher of the Year

    On May 17, a group of students and staff members from TBP’s Mesquite Campus helped to celebrate Ashlee Thrash being awarded as the TBP/Liberty Capital Bank District Teacher of the Year.   Thrash teaches grades 1st to 7th Special Education Functional Living Skills at Mesquite. She has been teaching for 11 years, and this is her second year with TBP.

    Fun, Games, and Pies in Faces for a Good Cause

    At noon on Friday, April 8, Mesquite campus kindergartners will get to celebrate those students who raised the most money in the campus’s Love My Library book fair and fundraiser by watching Vice Principal Isiah Manalo get pied. “It’s been really fun seeing the engagement that this fundraiser has developed,” Manalo said. “I want to thank Mrs. Dowhin for being so innovative in ways to ensure that our school library is well equipped and allows students to continue nurturing their love of reading.” Every student who signed up on the Love My Library's student portal received a free book and the campus raised just over $4,000 from fall and spring fundraisers.

    Mesquite Campus Pilots On-Site Meal Preparation

    Many schools the size of TBP, as well as many school districts, rely on outside vendors to ensure that no student goes without a hot breakfast or lunch each school day. But this year, TBP is piloting on-site food preparation at its Mesquite campus with plans toward replicating this model district-wide over the coming years.

    Mesquite Open House Accompanied with Dance and Fanfare

    Members of the Central Admin team joined Mesquite campus faculty and staff on May 22 to host an Open House event for TBP’s newest campus. The event started at noon and was highlighted by a Sima performance courtesy of Ballet Folklorico as well as free paletas for those who attended the lunchtime event.

    Mesquite Teacher Brings Candy Land to Life for Young Writers

    Readers in Shelby Wilkinson’s third grade English/Language Arts class in Mesquite were transported into one of the favorite board games of childhood: Candy Land. Students were inspired by the immersive theme of the classroom to develop their writing skills and build a story as they advanced through their individual game steps.
